Updated Review – Carla Blackston speaks about the Wooly Pully Commando Sweater after she wears one in Epsiode 2 of the Military Surplus Weekly
In it’s rich history, the Wooly Pully sweater has been called many things: indestructible, warm, comfortable and versatile. It earned those titles from the field. Most of them are machine washable or you can do it by hand in the field. They can survive most any camping hazard you can come up with. Also known as ‘Commando’ sweaters, this is definitely not the sweater for you if you are fat. They look much better when they are worn tightly, and are not kind to beer bellies. The majority of armed forces branches have their own versions of the ‘wooly pully’, and they aren’t all equal.
Why are they so versatile?
Heavy wool knit, reinforced at the elbows and shoulders.
When is an occasion to wear them?
They are worn by both men and women, military and civilians. Military will wear them as outer sweaters or underneath clothing, depending on the occasion. Not as commonly worn as other standard issue gear. If your going to wear it for personal use, a camping trip that you expect harsh conditions or cold weather is a good time to pick one up.
Wear them over a shirt, blouse or other top. They can match with any normal pants that a same-colored shirt would match. They can be tucked in, but aren’t normally meant to be. As a dress shirt, they can be worn with a tie, but this is also not the standard use.
Where is the best place I can get one?
The Wooly Pully Sweater is sold out or not carried at a lot of surplus stores. Thankfully ArmyNavyDeals not only carries them, but has them currently on sale.
