The only way for a special forces soldier to know where he is at all times is if he has a GPS (Global Positioning System) with him. If he gets into trouble and calls his base for help, he can tell the base exactly where he is.
A GPS uses satellites to calculate its user’s exact position on earth. A soldier may use a handheld GPS, such as the one pictured to the left made by Garmin, but he also may have a GPS watch. One of the leading makers of GPS watches is Suunto.
