Here we give you some cartridge holder options so you can keep track of your ammunition. Who knew there was more than one way to store ammo? Well there is, and not one way is the “right way.”
There’s not much of a history to tell of the cartridge holder. Guns that require a cartridge holder are those that need to be reloaded frequently. In the early days of the gun, such as during the American Revolutionary War, soldiers usually carried their cartridges in a pouch at their side. But as time went on, convenience and safety was a must, so new ways were developed to carry cartridges.

Another cartridge holder design goes over the shoulder like a sling. It looks basically the same as a cartridge belt and is popular among Rambo fans.

The final design we’ll cover is probably the least known of all cartridge holders. It goes on the actual gun, fitting over the buttstock of the weapon. Like the wrist holder, this holder has a somewhat limited capacity for cartridges, and it can also get in the way of the shooter during operation. But this holder makes for a quick re-loading process for the shooter since the cartridges are located so close to the gun chamber. This cartridge holder can only be used with certain guns — those that have a butt big enough to wrap the holder around.
